The crew had to navigate around poisonous snakes, scorpions, and tarantulas while shooting the “Stand By” video in a Mojave desert airplane graveyard. Directed by Lawrence Rothman and shot by Floria Sigismondi (who is collaborating on all the videos for this album), the video finds Aleister, one of Rothman’s nine alter-egos, wandering the wreckage while contemplating identity and escape. The song appears on Rothman’s debut LP, “The Book Of Law,” and was written while on actual stand-by at LAX, in response to their father’s disapproval of the artist’s gender fluidity.
