The Cure’s hit-laden set capped Saturday’s steamy Pasadena Daydream Festival, which in some ways recalled a dearly departed L.A. institution, FYF Fest. Robert Smith himself proclaimed it “the best day of summer.”

The Cure will headline a one-day festival on Aug. 31. Pasadena Daydream will take place at Brookside Park adjacent to the Rose Bowl, with nine supporting acts.
