Tonight in L.A.: Chromeo, War Tapes, El Ten Eleven

[Steve Perry and his platinum-selling pipes turn 60 years old today; let’s hope that’s a high note …]

It’s being billed as the last L.A. show before Chromeo heads into the studio to make a new album – the Montreal electro duo plays to a sold-out Key Club tonight. And after that show, there’s a DJ set/after-party at the Roxy one block east on Sunset Boulevard. … Of course, the Roxy will be having a dance-tastic time itself, with War Tapes, Love Grenades [Liz Wight, pictured] and a DJ set by Sam Sparro (that bill gets an early-ish start). … Speaking of parties, High Places throws one at the Echo,”  while downstairs at the Echoplex, Amebix plays a 5:30 p.m. show originally scheduled for downtown’s Regent Theater. (Amebix’s Friday show is the Cobalt Cafe in Canoga Park.) … At the Prospector in Long Beach, Two Guns plays the first of two shows celebrating its album release (the second is next Thursday at the Detroit Bar). [I previewed the album back in October.] … Halloween Swim Team heads up the lineup at the Airliner. … And El Ten Eleven brings its loop-happy instrumental rock to the Silverlake Lounge.
