‣ It’s a night of great folk-rock at the Echo – a double-barreled tour featuring two harmony-heavy bands brings in Vancouver’s Yukon Blonde (behind their new “Fire//Water” EP) and Long Beach’s the Fling (behind their new “What I’ve Seen” EP). That’s Yukon Blonde’s video for “Water,” above. BollWeevil kicks off the night.
‣ Stones Throw Records celebrates 15 years at Exchange LA downtown, with DJ sets from Madlib, Mayer Hawthorne, Peanut Butter Wolf, Dam Funk, Rhettmatic, DJ Romes, and a whole lot more.
‣ Nice benefit at the Grand Star in Chinatown (donation of cash, canned goods or blankets go to charities benefiting Homeless Health Care Los Angeles) features live sets from Harley Prechtel-Cortez (Just an Animal) and Cesar Saez De Nanclares (the Bixby Knolls), as well myriad local rockers doing DJ sets.
‣ And one of 2011’s biggest stories, Odd Future Wolf Gang Kill Them All, brings the party to the Roxy.
