‣ Legend is that when Bettye LaVette lived in L.A. in the 1970s, she used to leave tapes for the club owner at Troubadour. Tonight the 66-year-old singer whose career finally blossomed at age 59 headlines the West Hollywood club behind her new album “Thankful N’ Thoughtful.” That’s her rendition of Bob Dylan’s “Everything Is Broken,” above.
AWOLNATION plays to a sold-out Club Nokia, supported by Imagine Dragons and Zeale. The L.A. rockers are giving away a free tour EP here.
Tomorrow’s World, the duo featuring Jean-Benoit Dunckel of Air and London-based songstress Lou Hayter, heads up the first night of the OohLaLA Festival at the El Rey Theatre. The French music showcase also features Housse de Racket, Citizens! and Lescop.
‣ And Northern Youth headlines the Bootleg Bar behind the release of its debut album “Home.” The Union Line, Jarrett Killen and Young Empress support.
