Rising dance-pop star Gavin Turek will headline this year’s Tarfest, the free, all-ages arts and music festival Sept. 26 at the La Brea Tar Pits Park.

The 13th annual event on the Miracle Mile also brings up-and-coming indie-rockers The Shelters, soul siren Jessica Childress, indie-pop quintet Babes and tropical- and Latin-infused rockers Salt Petal to the outdoor stage in the park.

Presented by Launch LA and 88.5 FM KCSN, the festival also features the Tarfest Art Pavilion curated by Merry Karnowsky, live-painting by local artists Greg “Craola” Simkins, Johnny “KMNDZ” Rodriguez and Joseph Lee, and a special exhibition of paintings and limited-edition prints by L.A. artists.

Family entertainment for the afternoon features “Love the World – Dance Activism,” performing between bands at 2:45 and 4:45 p.m., as well as children’s art-making activities.

Plus, there will be food trucks and a beer-and-wine garden. The event runs from noon to dusk.
