Chairlift, the synth-pop of Caroline Polachek and Patrick Wimberly, have announced they will break up after playing a run of shows this spring.
In a note posted to Facebook, the duo said, “It’s been an incredible 10 years as a band, and it blows our mind to be able to say that every goal we had when we started recording in 2006 has been accomplished. We’ve been lucky enough to have the sweetest, coolest, most loyal fans an artist could ask for. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts …”
The band released three albums; the most recent, “Moth,” came out in January.
Their goodbye missive said that Polachek plans to make music as a solo artist and that Wimberly plans to work as a producer.
