“This song is about rising up, taking the reigns, and not letting anything or anyone stand in your way,” says Katherine Baar of “Dead In The Water,” her new Spelles single. In the video, she sits on a golden throne in front of a static ocean backdrop, delivering her passionate words with intensity, her own gospel. She begins just voice and tambourine, which are soon joined by hymn-inspired synths, and backing vocals that support her proclamation of self-empowerment. “There is so much power (and capability) that lives within each of us, and sometimes we don’t recognize it or are unable to access it, until it becomes a necessity for survival.”
“Dead in the Water” is the first single from a new EP that sees Spelles segueing to a more organic sound than was displayed on her 2015 self-titled EP.
