When he isn’t playing drums in Halsey’s band or rocking out in the trio Blacktop Queen, Nate Lotz works in the studio on experimental music under the name Internet Trash.

When she isn’t playing guitar and singing as a side player for other artists (most recently, Beck), Cecilia Della Peruti fronts the band Gothic Tropic, who have a follow-up to their 2017 album “Fast or Feast” in the works.

The pair got together in the studio “in the spirit of casual creativity,” Della Peruti says. And things got “FCKD UP.”

Their collaborative single is 2 1/2 minutes of throbbing electronica about feeling so detached, so outside one’s self, so needy, that “I can’t even focus,” as Lotz sings. When Gothic Tropic’s ticklish guitar solo enters the picture, it’s like being brought back to reality by a light caress on the shoulder. Casually speaking, of course.
