Godfather of goth Peter Murphy was admitted to Lenox Hill Hospital in New York City before the fourth night performance of his eight-night stand at Le Poisson Rouge after suffering shortness of breath.

Cardiologist Jason Song, MD, shared in a statement on Wednesday morning that the 62-year-old singer, “was admitted for treatment of a myocardial infarction. He had two stents placed in his right coronary artery and was started on medications to manage his heart condition… He is still in the hospital for continued monitoring of his condition.” Due to privacy laws, no further information was revealed.

Organizers of his residency stated that the rest of the shows scheduled for August 15th, 16th, 18th and 19th will be postponed and “ticket buyers will have their tickets transferred to the corresponding rescheduled date OR can request a refund by emailing info@lprnyc.com by 5PM EST on August 30, 2019.”

Murphy’s family shared, “We would like to thank the fans for their undying support and hope that Peter will be back on stage with a refreshed heart, stronger than before!”

Le Poisson Rouge stated, “All of us at LPR are devastated by this news. Peter’s performance and presence over the past twelve days has been amazing – both onstage and off. We wish Peter a swift and full recovery and look forward to his successful return to LPR.”

Last Friday, Saturday and on Monday, Murphy performed his solo albums “Cascade” (1995), “Dust” (2002) and “Ninth” (2011), respectively, and was about to perform “Lion” (2014) on Tuesday night before a solo greatest hits night, a night dedicated to Bauhaus songs and two nights in tribute to David Bowie on the subsequent scheduled dates.
