Being in quarantine lockdown in 2020 was a challenge for most, and for those in relationships, it both amplified weaknesses and uncovered strengths. For those more dominant in the former category, the pressure of isolation together in many cases tore bonds apart. Producer-singer-songwriter BIIANCO found herself in this very situation, and as her relationship splintered, she bore the fruit of her latest single, “Teeth Bared.”

“I wrote this song after having my heart annihilated in a toxic relationship in 2020,” she shared. “As I started healing, I went through stages of grief that I can only describe as rolling emotional waves.” The song takes a similar shape, beginning with a catchy, hypnotic vocal and percussive hook soon enjoined by a wave of deep sub-bass lines and layers of top-end taps emulating a tabla, giving the song a banghra/hip-hop feel.

“This song was born at the start of my rage phase. I found myself just so angry that I could have let someone destroy my sense of self so effectively,” said the songstress. Feeling “like a wolf with its teeth bared,” the song’s epilogue were her first lyrics, “You better run because we’re coming with our teeth bared.” Writing and producing the song in 48 hours, she said, “was the best therapy I’ve ever had.”
