Rounding up three notable releases that landed on Friday …

GUY BLAKESLEE, “Postcards From the Edge”

Blakeslee led up to the release of his new solo album with the title track, “Sometimes” and “Faces,” all gripping in their own right. Adding to a catalog that includes releases as Entrance and as frontman of the Entrance Band, Blakeslee dances with debauchery and danger (it was recorded in New Orleans, after all) in “Postcards’” dark, dramatic narratives.

FOO FIGHTERS, “Medicine at Midnight”

Way back when (2009), the underrated indie-rock band Actionslacks released a song called “Kids With Guitars.” The 10th album from Dave Grohl and the guys, for better or worse, sounds like whom they were talking about.

THE DEEP WEST, “California Flowers”

As foreshadowed by singles “Otherside,” “Dominoes” and “Giving Up,” the first major release from brothers Adam and Joey Chavez (ex-The New Limb) is unadulterated pop pleasure.
