She’s 16 years old and already run ragged, KALI complains in her single “Too Tired.” She looks the part, too, in the video directed by Zealand Yancy.

But teenage fatigue is just one of the phases KALI (full name: Kali Flanagan) works through on her otherwise bright and buoyant debut EP, “Circles,” which was just released. From dreamy indie-pop (“Back to the Start”) to pointed confessionals (“Lucy”) to sharp pop-rock (“I Just Wanna”), it’s an auspicious debut.

KALI played almost all the instruments on the EP, which was produced by Miro Mackie (The Neighbourhood, St. Vincent, Wallows) and Daniel Chae (of Run River North). Rather than make self-discovery sound like a thumbsucking obsession (see 95% of pop), “Circles” sounds like a critical but playful assessment. She’s 16?
