Andy Frasco, the L.A.-based classic rocker whose sheer energy could probably power a mid-sized American city, has checked in with his fairly predictable pandemic anthem, “Wash, Rinse, Repeat” — plus some optimistic words to go along with it.

“[It’s] about the PTSD of being in your house for too long,” Frasco says. “We forgot who we were before this pandemic. Now that we are slowly coming out of this, it’s time to follow our dreams again. Get outside, explore, maybe fall in love with someone or ourselves again. The renaissance is around the corner.”

“Wash, Rinse, Repeat,” is the title track of the forthcoming album from the songwriter’s Andy Frasco & the U.N., a group known for their off-the-chain live shows but who also have amassed a catalog of eight full-lengths in just over a decade.

During the pandemic, Frasco hosted a 33-episode variety show, “Andy Frasco’s World Saving ShitShow,” as well as continuing to man his popular “Andy Frasco’s World Saving Podcast.” He made the new album with producers Chris Carraba (Dashboard Confessional), Nathaniel Motte (3oh!3), Kenny Carkeet (AWOLNATION), Eric Krasno (Ledisi, Tedeschi Trucks Band) and Justin Osborne (Susto).

“This album means a lot to me because it sparked new ideas of what life is about,” Frasco says. “I’ve been on tour for so long that I have never been in my house for this long ever. I got sad, I got confused, I got existential because all these feelings were new. Normally, I can run away to the next town, see new things and distract myself if I’m feeling sad or depleted. But during this pandemic I really had to stay at home, live with the demons in my head and figure them out myself. Through this, I found who I am and what I like a little more as I’m getting older. I’m just trying to be friends with my brain again.”

Speaking of friends, in the Dani Barbieri-directed video for the title track, an eggplant (played by Chris Brouwers) and a peach (Casey Dworkin) make a few. (Like the video for 2021’s “Dancin’ Around My Grave,” Frasco’s Lakers fandom is on full display, too.)

“Wash, Rinse, Repeat,” the album, is out April 8.
