Just when you think that Meg Myers has reached the height of visceral songwriting … Just when you think the Tennessee native has red-zoned her cathartic bloodletting … Just when you think– after two albums, the Kate Bush cover and the twin EPs she released in 2020– that you’ve heard peak Meg …
Just when you think there is a top, Meg Myers has gone over it.
Here is Myers’ industrial-strength new single for Sumerian Records, “HTIS,” an acronym for “Hiding That I’m Sexual.”
Here is what the songwriter says about it: “‘HTIS’ was inspired by becoming more acquainted with my subconscious mind. It’s about taking off the mask, exposing the insecurities and imperfections, and allowing it all to be OK. ‘HTIS’ is an acceptance of my inner child and a re-connection to my sexuality by reclaiming the purity of it for myself.”
Here is the part where we tell you it features Luna Shadows and BONES UK shredder Carmen Vandenberg.
