We’re tempted to say, “Kids, don’t try this at home,” but what we really mean is, “By all means do …” Parental guidance suggested, of course.

Homescool is the project started by drummer Dan Epand (of TWWO, and prior to that Nico Vega) and his daughter Lennon, now 8. Family lore goes that the youngster’s remote learning sessions during the pandemic dragged a bit, so the father/daughter team let off steam by starting to write songs together.

“The Drums,” their fifth single, might be the most fun song about drumming since Todd Rundgren’s “Bang the Drum All Day.”

They went all out in this one — the video features members of Street Drum Corps and their kids, along with TWWO bandmate Aja Volkman’s daughter, among others. The sentiment is simple: “Ay, oh, ah / I wanna play the drums today / oh, ah …”

The project started with a Christmas song released in late 2020. Since then, Lennon has celebrated a “Zoom Birthday,” confessed “I Love My Dad” and fretted over a lost pet, named Juan Pelota (“Cat’s Meow”).
