Video: Wam Dingis, ‘Gallery Girl’

Wam Dingis have made noise on the fringes of L.A.’s underground scene for longer — way longer — than their catalog would indicate. Their lo-fi post-punk and goth rock is the stuff that rattles walls at warehouse shows.
The past two years have seen the band — singer-guitarist Jor Avila, drummer Darren Cochran and bassist-vocalist Angela Vasquez — make some moves. In 2021 they issued a remastered version of their album “It’s Not That Hard,” which features guests such as Jeff Schroeder (Smashing Pumpkins) and HOTT MT. And in October of this year, they released a new EP, “Dark Parlor,” produced by Kenny Becker of Goon.
In between, they released the single “Gallery Girl,” also produced by Becker and featuring former band member Mindy Song (Night Dreamer) on keys and dream-pop artist Bambina.
The video for “Gallery Girl,” directed by Joe Baltazar and Ricky Stacey, is a fun, wry send-up of the gallery scene featuring Josseline Salguero as the titular girl. Felicity Purwin’s animation makes it pretty trippy, in a ’60s way. Can’t say we’ve ever been mooned at an art opening, though.
