“Moving On,” the debut album from Los Angeles septet Kan Wakan, isn’t out until June 3, but between 2013’s EP and the new song “Like I Need You,” we’re getting a feel for its majestic vision. “Like I Need You,” which debuted this week in the promo for the spring HBO season, is a sultry, sweeping number that belongs on a soundtrack to a spy movie (SPIN suggested Kan Wakan were naturals for a Bond flick), with Kristianne Bautista’s soulful vocals soaring over glossy strings. It’s emblematic of the band’s next-level arrangements and cinematic approach. Something special this way comes.
