It’s been a year since Cillie Barnes announced that the release of the five-piece band’s debut full-length “Cobra Lily” was imminent, and now there is a release date, Sept. 24. Produced by Family of the Year’s Joe Keefe, “Cobra Lily” collects 11 songs of what lyricist Vanessa Long describes as “Disney goth” or “gyp-hop” — fantasy-driven pop with a proclivity for rap. On this record, Long sings about frogs, Luna moths, snake oil salesmen, dodgeball, the ocean, Halloween, Ursula, Freddy Krueger, Albert Einstein, dogs, natural disasters, parties, drugs and wine, but the single, “Mudslides” is about a romance in New Orleans. It must have left Long feeling haunted, with a shout out to her shaman, Bobby Klein, in the first verse.
